How to Pop the Hood on a Honda Accord

Hi Everyone! This is a super quick post on how to pop the hood and access the engine compartment on a Honda Accord. It probably seems obvious, but here are the pictures showing you where the catches and release latches are all located!

1 – Pop the Hood

In the driver’s seat, locate the hood release latch down near your feet on the left-hand side.

Pull it out and back until you hear a ‘pop’.

2 – Release the Hood Catch

Next, go to the front of the vehicle and lift up the hood. It should be a bit loose now after pulling the latch inside. Reach in between the hood and the grill and locate the latch.

You will see a small black handle, press upward on the handle.

Pressing upward on the handle will release the hood so that you can lift the hood up at the same time with the other hand. Now the hood should raise freely.

3 – Prop Up the Hood

Locate the prop rod which is lying down near the front of the engine bay. Pull it out of its plastic clip and raise the hood all the way up. Fit the end of the prop rod into the corresponding hole located in the underside of the hood as shown.
