Nice. I’m still rocking this bigger battery, and so glad I did. Huge improvement. It’s a nice feeling having a confident start every time!

In addition to now having a camera, I can run Torque Pro to track mileage, diagnostics and have more gauges that the Accord never came with. I’ve got all sorts of music options and I’m using TomTom for navigation. The downside is most everything come with no manuals worth a darn so it can be a chore to find advice online to fit the exact model radio and software version. My unit has an AC fetish. I wants to turn the AC on all of the time when I change some settings and the car isn’t adjusting idle properly when the AC is on so there can be some engine lugging, but that might be unrelated to the head unit.

Black top can melt the bottoms of gum soled shoes (160+). Would it be wiser to run 0W-20 in summer and 0w-16 in winter?

Thanks for providing a professional explanation here. So many opinions……

Yeah, good question. You can use a carpenter’s level vertically against each leg to check. Good luck!

If you’re worried about it, you can always take off the spare and put it into the back (“trunk”) until you get a chance to take it in for the recall. Good luck!

However, I’m looking to see if there is a way to make sure, other than visually, that the legs are straight to support the pool?

Thank you for your time.

I received my 2014 Toyota Sienna van as part of a modest bequest from a deceased friend. He had purchased the car at a local auto auction place. We took it to our trusted mechanic to have it looked over. They did some routine work and replaced a wheel bearing. I bought four new tires but I wanted to know if there was a spare tire or a donut just in case. So I took it to a small shop today. The guys told me they found the little tool but it wasn’t the right one. They said they got it off and looked at the tire and it was good. When we got back to our Airbnb, my husband researched and found your website.
I had no idea this would be so complicated and scary!
To learn that there was a recall and that my life could be in danger blew my mind. […apparently the steel cable could corrode and break, causing the spare tire to fall off. If this happens at highway speeds, this could be a very dangerous situation.] !!!

I’m in Denver now, 120 miles from home and wondering if I should drive it home.

Hi Hunter…by now (5/24) I hope you found the problem, which as Rich stated, it could have been a seized pully- (either the AC, or the alternator) but i just wanted to share that once, a friend managed to get the belt wrapped around a part of the engine somehow…& snapped the belt after starting. Not much room down there on these FWD cars & vans…hope you found the stuck pully. Best regards, LLERKS

Your first method using the ignition switch didn’t work, however, after disconnecting and reconnecting the yellow terminal underneath the front passenger seat I had success. Thanks so much for the advice.

The 2009 Honda Accord has a great engine, rock solid! When I hear rattle at startup, my mind goes to one of the following: VTC actuator bad (might have a DTC P1009), loose timing chain (4-cyl), or belt (6-cyl). Good luck, hope you get it figured out!
