It is very important to make sure that you do not run low on motor oil. The best way to do this is to check your oil level frequently. Many people do this at every gas fill-up, or perhaps every other gas fill up. It is really easy to do, follow this guide to learn how.
The first step is to pop the hood. Find the latch located underneath the steering wheel, and give it a pull.
The next step is to prop up the hood.
Locate the yellow oil fill check dipstick.
Go ahead and pull it out.
Wipe off the end with a rag, and re-insert it into it’s hole. Make sure you get it pressed all the way down. For best results, try to orient the dipstick in the same way that it was originally.
Usually the dipstick will go in a lot more easily if you can put it in the exact same way that it came out.
Pull the dipstick out again.
Examine the end of the dipstick, and see how much of the end of the dipstick is wet with oil.
You will notice that there are 2 dots on the end of the dipstick. The goal is to have the oil fill up to a point located between these two dots. The top dot indicates full, and the lower dot indicates low.
If the oil level is at the lower dot, you are a quart low on oil, so add a quart of oil. The distance between the two dots corresponds to approximately 1 quarts of oil. So if the oil line is up to the lower dot, that means you are one quart low.
